Q Do you provide speech screenings?

Yes, we do! We offer 15 minute online speech screenings through our online Telepractice department. The purpose of a screening is to find out if there are areas of concern that need evaluation. If an evaluation is not found to be necessary, therapists will give parents and/or teachers suggestions to work with the child to address areas of concern. Sometimes therapists will suggest a re-screening in the future.

Q Do you provide Teletherapy speech therapy services?

Yes, we are now offering speech Teletherapy services. Please message us for a consultation to determine if your insurance covers this service. Private pay clients are also accepted. https://www.facebook.com/PlayonSpeech1/

Q What services do you offer?

We treat a variety of speech-language areas that include, but are not limited to the following:

    Articulation and Phonological Disorders
    Auditory Processing Disorders
    Autism Spectrum Disorder
    Childhood Apraxia of Speech
    Expressive & Receptive Language Disorders
    Pragmatic/Social Communication Disorders
    Voice and Resonance Disorders
    Stuttering and other Fluency Disorders
Feeding and other Oral Motor Disorders

Q When should I seek the help of a speech-language pathologist?

Your child may benefit from speech-language therapy if they have demonstrated:

    A decreased ability to communicate
    Limited vocabulary for their age
Poor articulation or are difficult to understand
    Stuttering or other fluency difficulties
Difficulty understanding what is said to them
    Difficulty following directions
    Poor verbal or written expression
    Difficulty listening in noisy environments
    Immature sentence structure
    Frequent use of nonspecific words
    Poor social skills

Q What are the benefits of speech therapy Teletherapy?

Students today use computers as part of their learning process, so the transition to receiving therapy on a computer is not a big adjustment. Because the therapy session is live and highly individualized, the benefits are even greater. As an added perk, sessions can be recorded and replayed for the student/parents/legal guardians providing opportunities for review, practice, feedback, and carry-over outside of the school environment.

    It’s cost effective.
It’s fun, interactive, and allows kids to bond and forget about their worries.
It allows easy assessment and analysis of progress in terms of speech and other social aspects such as ease of interaction.
It’s a flexible system and can easily be incorporated into any school district.
It’s convenient for the school, the teletherapists, and the parents since no travel is involved.
It can be just as effective as face to face speech therapy.
